Aside from the cover art, the title sparked loads of questions (and I had to resist the temptation of looking up the blurb on Amazon!). What could an “ode to the fresh cut” mean? What is the purpose of the crowns? Who is this cool looking dude posing for us on the cover? Let’s find out… Evaluation I gained a newfound appreciation of the art form upon watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse earlier this year where street art is featured prominently in the backdrop of Miles Morales’s journey. Its cover is reminiscent of colorful street art, especially with the crowns encircling the boy’s head. There were a LOT of choices for my Bluebonnet pick, but Crown’s cover and interesting title immediately drew my eye. Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut is a Texas Bluebonnet award-winning novel about one charismatic boy’s trip to the barber shop.
